TAYLOR TAI

WO R K S H O P S

I design and facilitate two-hour professional development workshops on inclusive teaching for faculty and graduate students.  A partial listing is below. To contract me for a workshop, reach out to me at bundietai@gmail.com. Rates are based on time spent in the session, travel expenses (if not remote), and any preparation needed to tailor the workshop to your group's needs.

Designing Inclusive Curricula

An introduction on overhauling course curricula to uplift college students from diverse backgrounds. In this workshop for educators, participants identify their stake in making classrooms justice-centered and brainstorm changes for their course syllabi, readings, and classroom protocols based on a few pillars of inclusive teaching. A sample workshop overview, tailored to a class for graduate TAs in 2019, is below.

Helping Students in Crisis

An in-depth workshop designed to shift instructors out of a punitive mindset and into a framework of compassion and understanding for students whose work is impacted by crises outside of the classroom. We review how to support struggling students by referring them to campus resources and collaborating on new assignment plans. A sample workshop overview, tailored to a class for graduate TAs in 2019, is below.

Creating Institutional Change

A roadmap for graduate students who are invested in transforming their institution's climate and policies to be supportive of marginalized scholars. Participants cover lessons learned from social justice initiatives in entomology and workshop how to apply similar strategies within their organizations.
